Rosslare Europort – Gateway to Ireland’s South East

Rosslare Europort (formerly called Rosslare Harbour) is one of Europe’s most modern seaports and is located in the very southeast corner of Ireland in County Wexford – the closest point to the UK and mainland Europe. Read on and find out more about this premier passenger and freight ferry port.

Rosslare Europort is one of the major entry points into Ireland from the UK and Europe. Each year thousands of passengers, cars, freight and trade vehicles pass through this port making it one of the busiest in Europe.

Irish Ferries operate a ferry service between Rosslare and Pembroke (Wales), Cherbourg and Roscoff (France). Celtic Link Ferries also operate a ferry service to and from Cherbourg while Stena Line operate to and from Fishguard in Wales.

The port has four berthing ports and features a restaurant, waiting area, a bar, check in area and control tower. There’s also car rental desks, a Bureau de Change, shops, children’s play area and immigration area.

Ferry travel is a popular way of getting to Ireland and especially if you want to bring the car.  You don’t have to worry about luggage weight restrictions, it’s a great way of bringing all the family (even the pet!) and it can also be a cheaper option. Nowadays the luxurious ferry cruise liners are fitted out to the highest standards and boast facilities such as cinemas, games arcades, shops, bars and restaurants.

When you arrive in Rosslare, your adventure in Ireland is about to unfold. This is one of the most beautiful corners of the country so do take the time to explore it. Top attractions to visit in County Wexford include Johnstown Castle, Hook Lighthouse, Dunbrody Famine Ship, Duncannon Fort and the 1798 Visitor Centre to name a few.

Rosslare Europort has direct access onto the N25 which runs along the beautiful south west coast of Ireland through the historic city of Waterford and onto the charming city of Cork. The N11 runs north along the east coast of Ireland to Dublin city which is about a 2 hour drive from Rosslare.

If you haven’t brought the car with you don’t worry, you can book car hire now and have it ready for pick up when you arrive. If you want to spend the night in Rosslare or want to use it as your base for exploring the south east, then why not check out Rosslare Harbour Accommodation for you to stay at.
