The Bowe family’s Marlfield House is the luxury country house hotel par excellence. This is no ordinary hotel, but an example of how to transform a fine 19th century house into an elegant oasis of unashamed luxury, where guests are cosseted and pampered in surroundings that can only be described as sumptuous. The graceful dining room and resplendent conservatory merge into one, allowing views across the gardens. Chef Henry Stone’s cooking is accomplished and elegant – and is served in the fine company of an extensive wine list. Mary and Ray Bowe are still very much involved, but the house is now under the direction of daughter Margaret Bowe, continuing the family tradition.
